Job summary

Affinity Staff Limited is seeking experienced Senior Residential Support Workers to take on shift leadership agency roles within Ofsted-registered residential homes for young people across Solihull and the wider West Midlands. You will lead floor routines, mentor junior staff, oversee care plan implementation, and ensure regulatory compliance during your assignment.

The role requires two years’ Ofsted‑registered experience and a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare, plus a valid UK driving

Qualifications

• Essential: Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years in an Ofsted-registered children's residential home, including senior/shift-lead responsibilities.
• Proven leadership with conflict resolution and crisis management skills.
• Valid Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
• Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or prepared to undergo a new check).

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts, delegate duties, oversee handovers and routines.
• Provide direct therapeutic care and emotional guidance to young people with complex needs.
• Handle crises and de-escalate incidents using accredited techniques.
• Support floor staff with guidance, debriefs, and shift documentation quality assurance.
• Liaise with social workers, educators, guardians and external agencies.
• Oversee medication administration in line with Ofsted guidelines and home policies.

About the Role

As a Senior Support Worker on shift, you will lead floor routines, mentor junior staff, oversee care plan implementation, and ensure regulatory compliance during your assignment.

• Provide direct therapeutic care and emotional guidance to young people with complex behavioral and emotional needs.
• Handle crisis interventions and manage challenging incidents using accredited de-escalation techniques.
• Support floor staff with guidance, debriefs, and quality assurance on shift documentation.
• Liaise with social workers, educational staff, guardians, and multidisciplinary external agencies.
• Oversee medication administration and ensure full alignment with Ofsted guidelines and home policies.

About You

• Essential: Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification).
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in an Ofsted-registered children s residential home, including senior or shift-lead responsibilities.
