Senior Children's Residential Support Worker
Derbyshire (DE7 / DE75)
£26,913 - £28,431 Per Annum Plus Sleep-in Payments

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional provider of care for Children & Young People. This organisation offers excellent care and educational support to young people with challenging behaviours.

We are looking for a Senior Support Worker to assist in managing the home and work with a team to ensure positive outcomes for the young people. The role involves developing interests and attitudes of the young people, supporting them to live independent and healthy lives, and encouraging educational goals. You will support and lead a team to achieve the best outcomes.

Ideal candidates will have experience working with challenging behaviour within a residential setting, along with an understanding of safeguarding and the promotion of welfare of young people.

The full-time hours are 39 hours per week, involving a mix of shifts, including some weekends and bank holidays, with occasional sleep-ins.

  • Early Shift: 07:30 - 15:00
  • Late Shift: 14:30 - 22:00 (sometimes with a sleep-in + extra payment)
  • Full Shift: 07:30 - 22:00

Shifts are scheduled on a fair rota system. Part-time hours may also be considered.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of new techniques and approaches to childcare within the provision.
  • Organise and lead group activities and holidays.
  • Encourage development in individuals' interests and attitudes.
  • Promote, safeguard, and protect the welfare of each young person.
  • Encourage educational development.
  • Observe and assess behaviours of the young people.
  • Ensure accurate care plans and reports are maintained.
  • Assist in developing care plans.
  • Support and supervise care workers.
  • Liaise with outside agencies to ensure the best care; carry out inductions and ongoing assessments.
  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, young people, and families.
  • Attend meetings and ensure best care practices in line with policies and procedures.
  • Assist senior management in all aspects of running the home.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with young people in a residential setting.
  • Minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
  • Experience working with learning disabilities or SEBD is highly advantageous.
  • Range of life skills and experience is essential.
  • Experience leading a team is essential.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Must be a driver with a valid UK Driving Licence.
