Job summary
Siemens Energy is seeking a Protection and Control Specialist Engineer in the United Kingdom, focused on bay-level protection for substations. You will oversee relay configuration, logic implementation, testing, and evidence preparation from concept to commissioning, collaborating with Secondary Systems Design and Substation Automation teams.
You will lead technical clarifications with customers and suppliers, review protection philosophies, and support bids and planning for the P&C scope.
Qualifications
- 12+ years in protection and control engineering for substations, including configuration, testing, and commissioning.
- Strong leadership and mentoring experience with documentation discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for customer-facing discussions during FAT and reviews.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related discipline, with IEC 61850 knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Own the protection and control engineering scope on allocated projects, review and approve settings, logic and test strategies.
- Contribute to standards applications, protection philosophies, and engineering governance within the P&C scope.
- Lead design reviews, hazard reviews and project safety reviews.
- Act as the point of contact for technical clarifications with customers and suppliers.
