Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Cardiff, Wales team. You will take ownership of projects across rail, aviation, energy, manufacturing and data centres, with hybrid working and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the UK and international teams.

The role focuses on delivering robust structural designs for a variety of sectors, mentoring junior engineers, and advancing technically within an international organisation, while embracing sustainable

Qualifications

• Chartered status with IStructE, ICE or international equivalent.
• Experience as Structural Engineer in a consultancy or similar environment.
• Strong experience in structural design using steel, concrete and timber.
• Understanding of building construction and structural engineering principles.
• Experience with complex or technically challenging projects.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain engineering concepts clearly.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
• Collaborative approach and multidisciplinary working.
• Curiosity about engineering and desire for better, more efficient solutions.
• Interest in sustainable engineering and reducing environmental impact.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structural engineering design on projects appropriate to experience.
• Develop structural concepts and practical design solutions across materials.
• Apply engineering judgement to solve complex problems.
• Design structures using steel, concrete and timber.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors and design team members.
• Take ownership of work and contribute to project delivery.
• Mentor and develop less experienced engineers and technicians.
• Contribute to innovative and sustainable structural design solutions.
• Consider opportunities to reduce embodied carbon and reuse assets.
• Work with peers across the UK and, where appropriate, international teams.
• Support the growth of the wider structural engineering capability.
