Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Plymouth/Exeter Structures team in our Building Engineering Unit. The role covers feasibility through detailed design and construction support across defence and commercial projects, with hybrid work options.

You will lead design, calculations and reports, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and supervise junior engineers while ensuring quality and client satisfaction. Travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a variety of structural projects and direct client engagement.
• Strong communication and technical skills with a proactive approach.
• Willingness to travel with a valid driving license and ability to obtain MOD clearance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structural engineering services on building/heavy civil projects with minimal supervision.
• Prepare technical specifications for projects.
• Assist with commercial and financial control of projects.
• Inspect and assess building/civil structures.
• Supervise graduate engineers to ensure technical standards.
• Direct technicians to deliver drawings and clearly communicate designs.
• Prepare reports and technical documents.
