Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer in the UK to lead the design and delivery of structural solutions for major energy infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission and distribution networks, and OHL systems.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status or progress toward chartership, with strong leadership, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and a focus on innovative, sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
• Proven experience in structural engineering design and delivery.
• Experience with substations, transmission & distribution, OHL, power stations, petrochemical facilities.
• Strong knowledge of UK design codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering design on major energy infrastructure projects.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission & distribution facilities, OHL structures and power stations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
• Manage project delivery, ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry standards and WSP processes.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand project needs and provide expert guidance.
• Contribute to business development and proposal writing.
• Support development of best practices and innovation within the team.
