Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate or Associate Director to take a senior leadership role delivering structural engineering services for major energy infrastructure projects in the UK, including transmission and distribution networks, substations, and power plants.

You will lead project teams, manage client relationships, and drive technical excellence and innovation across the portfolio. The role offers hybrid and flexible working and sits within a global consultancy with a diverse, inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with leadership and structural design experience.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on complex projects.
• Experience in substations, transmission & distribution, OHL, power stations, or petrochemical facilities.
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing, and risk management.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Contribute to business development, including bids, proposals, and client presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and sustainable design solutions.
• Support the development of best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
