Job summary

WSP in the United Kingdom seeks a Principal Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of structural solutions for major energy infrastructure projects in the UK, including substations, transmission and distribution networks, and Overhead Line structures.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients and stakeholders to ensure high-quality, innovative and sustainable outcomes, while mentoring junior engineers and supporting project delivery.

Qualifications

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
Proven experience in structural engineering design and delivery.
Experience in substations, transmission & distribution, and OHL projects.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills; proven leadership.

Responsibilities

Lead structural engineering design on major energy infrastructure projects.
Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission & distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
Manage project delivery, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.
Engage with clients to understand project needs and provide expert guidance.
Contribute to business development and proposal writing.
Support development of best practices and innovation within the team.
