Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of structural solutions for major energy infrastructure projects in the UK, including substations, transmission and distribution networks, and power stations.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure high-quality, innovative and sustainable outcomes, providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and technicians while advancing best practices within the team.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
• Proven experience in structural engineering design and delivery.
• Experience in substations, transmission and distribution infrastructure, OHL projects, power stations, and petrochemical facilities.
• Strong understanding of UK design codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering design on major energy infrastructure projects.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
• Manage project delivery, ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and WSP's quality processes.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand project needs and provide expert guidance.
• Contribute to business development and proposal writing.
• Support the development of best practices and innovation within the team.
