About the role

Balfour Beatty is currently recruiting a Senior Structural CAD Technician to join the Power T&D team in Derby.

Role focus - To work with the structural design team to interpret design information effectively to produce assembly/fabrication drawings and bill of quantities for structural steelwork.

What you'll be doing

1. Use CAD software to produce 2D & 3D models of structural steelwork.
2. Provide technical support to project stakeholders such as site operatives, the commercial team, and fabricators.
3. Ensure compliance with the Group Minimum Engineering Expectations.
4. Highlight good and bad practices to promote continuous improvement.
5. Manage your own tasks, delivering them on time and within budget.
6. Produce engineering estimates for medium-sized projects.
7. Oversee medium projects involving up to four CAD technicians, managing resources and ensuring timely delivery.
8. Mentor and train CAD technicians.
9. Check the work of other CAD technicians for quality and accuracy.
10. Ensure all work complies with client and industry specifications.

Who we're looking for

• Excellent literacy and numeracy skills, GCSE level 6 minimum.
• Competence in developing 3D models and producing general arrangement, fabrication drawings, and bill of materials for structural steelwork.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong analytical thinking skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel.
