About the role

Balfour Beatty is currently recruiting a Senior Structural CAD Technician to join the Power T&D team in Derby.

Role focus - To work with the structural design team to obtain the most suitable interpretation of design information to produce assembly / fabrication drawings and bill of quantities for structural steelwork.

What you'll be doing

Use CAD software to produce 2D & 3D models of structural steelwork.

Provide technical support to project stakeholders e.g. Site operatives, commercial team, fabricators.

Ensure compliance with the Group Minimum Engineering Expectations.

Highlight good/bad practice to ensure continuous improvement.

Manage their own tasks and deliver them to program and budget.

Produce engineering estimates for medium sized projects.

Oversee medium projects with up to four CAD technicians, managing resource and delivering tasks to program and budget.

Mentor and train CAD technicians.

Check the work of other CAD technicians.

Ensure work is carried out in line with client and industry specifications.

Who we're looking for

Excellent standard of literacy & numeracy. GCSE level 6 minimum.

Competent to develop 3D model, produce general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings and bill of materials for structural steelwork.

Good communication skills.

Strong analytical thinking skills

Attention to detail.

Problem solving.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel.
