Job summary

Assystem’s Fusion and Modular Nuclear team in the UK seeks a Principal Stress Engineer/Technical Lead to steer scoping, bidding and delivery of stress work packages. You will lead a growing stress capability, mentor engineers, and coordinate with safety cases and design teams.

You will act as a technical lead, conduct FE analyses to codes such as ASME III/VIII and RCC-M, and represent Assystem in client meetings. Hybrid remote work is available.

Qualifications

• Experience leading stress and structural integrity projects.
• Experience in nuclear sector or comparable regulated sector.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers.
• Expert FE analysis including strength, fatigue and life assessments.
• Knowledge of ASME III/VIII, RCC-M, R6 codes.
• Desirable: CFD, dynamics, fatigue and degradation mechanisms.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Engineering degree and Chartered Engineer credentials.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead for stress and structural integrity.
• Represent Assystem in client meetings.
• Serve as Independent Technical Approver.
• Use FE analysis and hand calculations to justify performance to codes.
• Collaborate with safety case authors and delivery teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and shape future specialists.
• Lead bids, proposals and client presentations.
• Forecast workload and shape long-term capability.
