Job summary

Assystem in the UK is seeking a Senior/Principal Stress Engineer to lead technical risk assessment activities within the Fusion and Modular Nuclear unit. This hybrid role combines high-value client work with shaping capability, tools and talent for a growing stress community.

You will guide complex stress analyses (FEA/hand calculations), review work for clients, mentor engineers and drive capability growth across bids, methods and collaboration with engineering directors and sales.

Qualifications

• Lead stress and structural integrity analyses for nuclear applications.
• Experience with FEA software and assessment codes (ASME, BS7910, R6).
• Chartered engineer status or working toward it.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex stress and structural integrity assessments using FEA and hand calculations.
• Review and approve technical work, representing Assystem with clients.
• Mentor and develop engineers, building future stress specialists.
• Drive capability growth through training, methods, best practices, and recruitment.
• Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams in nuclear and defence sectors.
