Job summary

Vertical Aerospace in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Stress Engineer to join the Airframe Engineering team, tackling design validation from concept through certification for the Valo eVTOL.

You will perform structural analyses of metallic and composite airframe structures, lead analysis activities, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with Design, Certification, Loads and Manufacturing to deliver regulated solutions.

Qualifications

• Significant experience performing stress analysis on aerospace structures.
• Strong understanding of hand calculations and finite element modelling techniques.
• Experience developing and executing structural substantiation strategies.
• Ability to identify load paths, predict structural behaviour and assess failure modes.
• Excellent communication and leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform stress analysis of airframe structures and develop optimised solutions.
• Lead structural assessments of composite and metallic structures using hand methods and FEA.
• Define and execute analysis strategies aligned with programme and certification requirements.
• Lead small technical teams and coordinate analysis activities across projects.
• Mentor and support the development of junior engineers.
• Produce and approve structural substantiation reports and supporting certification activities.
• Collate verification and certification evidence to demonstrate compliance.
• Act as an approval signatory for technical reports and drawings.
