Job summary

Vertical Aerospace is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to own airframe designs from conception to release, working across airframe structures, powerplant, and fuel-system interfaces for all-electric and hybrid aircrafts. You will guide a team of engineers, coordinate with manufacturing and flight-test, and ensure milestones align with safety and certification goals.

You will apply rigorous engineering judgment to balance structural integrity with manufacturability, provide design for manufacture

Qualifications

• Established experience delivering complex mechanical or structural designs in a safety-critical or highly regulated environment.
• Strong theoretical understanding of airframe structures with pragmatic application of engineering principles.
• Experience taking inherited or incomplete designs through design for manufacture, release, build or installation.
• Experience approving or checking engineering drawings, design data or technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Own airframe designs from incomplete or inherited definition through design for manufacture, release, build and installation.
• Develop pragmatic design solutions balancing structural, manufacturing, integration, certification and programme requirements.
• Approve and release engineering drawings, design data and technical reports.
• Act as a checking signatory, ensuring data is accurate and evidence-supported.
• Coordinate internal engineers and contractors.
• Integrate airframe structures with powerplant and fuel-system interfaces.
