Job summary

Roku seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design and build large-scale video infrastructure powering Live and VOD streams. You will collaborate with video engineers to ingest, process, and deliver high volumes of content using resilient, cloud-native services that scale continuously.

You will develop backend systems focused on reliability, performance, and observability, shaping how millions of users stream content worldwide.

Qualifications

• Experience building distributed backend systems at scale.
• Proficiency in Go/Java/Rust/Python and C/C++.
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and streaming pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain large-scale data-stream pipelines for Live and VOD workflows.
• Develop high-throughput, low-latency containerized services for video ingestion, decoding, transcoding, packaging, transport, and ad markers management.
• Architect systems to consume thousands of real-time video/audio streams.
• Design resilient worker-to-worker streaming and transport mechanisms for network instability.
• Build scalable orchestration and container-management systems with autoscaling and rolling deployments.
• Develop real-time monitoring, telemetry, logging, and alerting for operational visibility.
