A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Senior Strategic Procurement Manager to oversee clinical and medical contracts. This role involves managing a team, ensuring compliance and value for money in procurement activities, and supporting strategic objectives across multiple NHS Trusts.
The North Midlands & Black Country Procurement Group (NMBC) comprises The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM), The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT), Walsall NHS Trust (WHT), The Black Country Pathology Services (BCPS), North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust (NSCHT), The Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT), the Black Country Healthcare Foundation Trust (BCHFT), and Midlands & Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit (MLCSU).
The NMBC oversees Strategic and Operational Procurement for UHNM (Royal Stoke University and County Hospitals), RWT (New Cross and Cannock Hospitals), WHT (Walsall Manor Hospital), and 36 partner NHS organizations across Staffordshire, Shropshire, Cheshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire & Lancashire. It manages expenditure exceeding £600 million across these health economies.
This position is within the Strategic Procurement clinical contract team, primarily based at Royal Stoke University Hospital, reporting to the Head of Procurement - Strategic Sourcing & Special Projects. The role involves managing a portfolio of contracts and supporting 4 staff members at the Royal Stoke site, each handling their own clinical/medical contract portfolios.

Benefits include 27 days annual leave on appointment, increasing to 29 days after 5 years, and 33 days after 10 years. Flexi-leave hours can also be accrued per the flexible working policy.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the Senior Strategic Procurement Manager will be a key member of the NMBC Senior Management team.
The role involves managing a portfolio of clinical and medical contracts, leading a team of 4 staff responsible for procurement activities over £20k for the Medical, Surgical & Network Services Divisions at UHNM.
This demanding role supports strategic objectives across the Trusts, explores collaborative opportunities, and contributes to savings targets. It involves supporting the local procurement strategy, ensuring value for money, minimizing risks, and compliance with EU Procurement Legislation, UK Law, and the Trust’s Financial Instructions. The role also leads on medical and clinical contracts and projects on behalf of senior management, deputizing as required.
UHNM NHS Trust covers Royal Stoke Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and County Hospital in Stafford. Royal Stoke is a large acute teaching hospital with a £360 million turnover, serving over 600,000 people annually, and is a major trauma center for the North Midlands and North Wales.
