Job summary

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) invites applications for a Band 6 Clinical Lead on Shakespeare ward. You will join an established leadership team and nurture junior colleagues while advancing care quality and staff wellbeing.

The post requires experience in acute mental health nursing, supervision and data-driven improvement. Strong commitment to safety, audit actions and ongoing professional development is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical care on Shakespeare ward as Band 6 clinical lead.

Job description

Our Vision is to provide the best mental health, learning disability, autism, community, and physical health services for the populations we serve.

As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
  • Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
  • Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long‑term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

An exciting opportunity has arisen on Shakespeare ward at the Harbour for highly motivated and professional RMN to join the wards as band 6 clinical lead. In coming into this roles, the successful candidates will join an already established leadership team, and will have opportunity to further develop their leadership skills in a supportive environment.

The successful candidate will bring excellent role modelling skills, a passion for supporting and developing junior colleagues, including student nurses and preceptors, and they should have a keen interest in quality improvement projects that can lead to improvements in patient care and staff wellbeing.

You should bring with you experience of nursing people with acute mental health needs, as well as some experience of providing high quality supervision, an awareness of not just how to complete an audit but what to do with the data an audit provides us with, and be keen to develop your own skills once in post.
