• Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.

Pennine Lancashire is seeking a Band 6 5 Staff Nurse, for Darwen Ward, a male treatment ward at our Pendleview unit, Royal Blackburn Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity and the successful candidate will be part of an evolving service that has the needs of our service users at its heart. Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 Registered Nurse (Mental Health or Learning Disabilities) the post holder will be a Registered Nurse (RN) working in an inpatient mental health setting as part of the multidisciplinary team and carry out a diverse range of duties including the assessment, formulation, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of nursing care that is evidence-based, person centered and recovery focused. With the support of the Ward Manager and their deputies the post holder will lead and contribute to the smooth running of the unit in a consistent way that reflects the Trusts' values

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse within the team, you will be regularly supported and supervised by a nominated Registered Nurse, and you will be encouraged and supported to take personal responsibility for clinical supervision and your continued professional development plan.

The post holder will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge and expertise as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and policies and procedures.

(If the post holder is new to the NMC register they will undertake a period of preceptorship overseen by a named Preceptor within your team and engage in the trusts Preceptorship programme).

Knowledge

• Can demonstrate an understanding and knowledge base of mental health conditions and their treatments, recovery principles and person centred care Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act
• Can demonstrate a working knowledge of physical health conditions and the complications that this can cause to patients experiencing mental ill health.

Experience

• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team structure
• Experience of assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care needs
• Developed clinical nursing skills with a clear ability to understand new concepts and ideas in clinical practice
• Can provide evidence of recent continued professional development within the scope of nursing
