Job summary

Telford & Wrekin Council’s Lexcel-accredited Legal Team invites applications from qualified Solicitors with UK practising rights for a one-year fixed-term contract to safeguard our most vulnerable residents. The team supports council officers, elected members and external clients with a broad range of legal matters.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be qualified solicitors with a valid practising certificate in the UK.
  • Experience in safeguarding or local government law is desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality legal advice and support to Council officers, elected members and external clients.
  • Assist with safeguarding matters ensuring compliance and best practice.
  • Contribute to the Council's commercial and safeguarding initiatives within the Legal Team.

The Lexcel-accredited Legal Team provides legal advice, assistance and support to Council officers, elected members and external clients at all levels. The Safeguarding team has a hybrid working pattern, with an expectation of two days based in the office in Telford. Currently these days are Wednesdays and Thursdays. Applicants are required to be qualified as solicitors with a valid practicing certificate.
