Job summary

Millbrook Group Ltd in Southampton is seeking a senior/lead software engineer to own the technical direction and architecture for a small, hands-on team. You will work across legacy and modern stacks (VB.NET/.NET, C#, React/TypeScript) while shaping modern patterns, testing, and CI/CD.

You will deliver practical architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and drive reliable, secure software delivery as the estate evolves toward clearer APIs and cloud services.

Qualifications

Senior or lead software engineer with hands-on delivery and people leadership.
Strong C#/.NET capability and API/web app experience.
Front-end experience with React/TypeScript.
Excellent SQL and data modeling abilities.
Experience designing scalable architectures and CI/CD pipelines.
Able to mentor engineers and raise engineering standards.

Responsibilities

Own the technical direction and architecture decisions for your team.
Lead solution design and document key technical choices.
Ensure solutions are secure, observable, maintainable, and scalable.
Oversee end-to-end production stack and incident response.
Promote smaller, safer releases and CI/CD improvements.
Coach engineers through pairing, code reviews and hands-on guidance.
