Job summary

Wise is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to anchor FX Markets infrastructure, owning architectural evolution across 14+ production services. You will lead real-time streaming pipelines, risk and hedge execution capabilities, and collaborate with traders, quants, and treasury controllers.

The role emphasizes deep systems thinking, high-throughput data processing, and a product-minded approach to deliver scalable FX pricing, risk management, and automated hedge execution at Wise.

Qualifications

8+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in financial systems or real-time data.
Strong Java (17+) and Spring Boot in high-throughput environments.
Experience with streaming data tools like Kafka and Flink; knowledge of gRPC/Protobuf is a plus.

Responsibilities

Own the technical direction and architecture of Wise's FX engineering stack.
Architect semi-automated hedge execution platform and exposure decomposition.
Build real-time streaming pipelines for exposure, hedges, and risk.
Evolve rate infrastructure for high throughput and cross-provider data.
Design Kafka topologies and schema evolution across the pipeline.
Lead incident response and mentor IC2/IC3 engineers.
