Job summary

Wise Europe Risk & Controls is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II to own core risk architecture across UK/Europe. This full-time role focuses on AML/fincrime detection, building high-throughput, event-driven engines that are bulletproof, explainable, and auditable in real time.

You'll collaborate with Product, Compliance and Data Science, design scalable distributed systems, and mentor senior engineers while shaping technical strategy and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of deep Java expertise leveraging Spring Boot.
• Distributed systems experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka) and SQL.
• Product ownership: end-to-end execution from design to production metrics.
• Cross-functional influence: translate complex architectures for non-technical stakeholders.
• CI/CD mastery: modern pipelines and deployment practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale distributed systems powering risk detection and due diligence workflows.
• Set technical strategy, make architecture calls, and mentor senior engineers.
