Wise in London is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for our Account Integrity team. Join a mission-critical function protecting customers and building secure financial crime prevention systems.

You will tackle complex adversarial problems, own end-to-end features, and contribute on the backend (80%) and frontend (20%) using Java, Spring, and modern CI/CD practices in a globally distributed engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages, including the Spring framework.
• Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, distributed systems, and concurrent systems.
• Strong product mindset, accountability, and the ability to drive projects independently while making data-driven decisions with the customer in mind.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including query optimisation and designing resilient schemas.
• Exceptional fundamentals, sharp problem-solving ability, and a commitment to Test Driven Development and best coding practices.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts across teams including Product, Data Science, and Investigations.
• Familiarity with the machine learning lifecycle, including data pipelines, feature engineering, and deploying ML systems into production is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Join our Senior Software Engineer team in our critical Account Integrity function.
• Solve complex, real-world adversarial problems to help protect our global customer base.
• Continuously improve our financial crime prevention infrastructure and systems.
• Take end-to-end ownership of projects focused on building and refining critical controls to protect customer accounts from account takeovers.
• Drive backend and frontend development for our crime prevention and detection systems, spending around 80% of the time on backend work and 20% on frontend work.
• Deliver tangible impact by securing customer money, raising automation levels, and helping us engineer a world-class money transfer product.
