Job summary

Opencast is seeking Senior Software Developers who are passionate about building robust software using Java or Scala. You will work in a consultancy environment with a focus on TDD, emergent design and refactoring to ensure high-quality, maintainable systems for client engagements across the UK.

You will collaborate in agile teams, lead technical delivery, and mentor peers while delivering solutions aligned with government standards.

Qualifications

• Senior Software Developer with focus on Java or Scala.
• Experience delivering complex digital services to public sector projects.
• Strong testing mindset with XP practices and collaborative delivery.
• Eligible for UK SC clearance or willing to undergo vetting.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of high-quality, user-centered services using Java or Scala.
• Design and build scalable, maintainable systems with attention to performance and security.
• Embed strong testing practices across delivery.
• Collaborate with government clients to ensure compliance with standards (GDS).
• Mentor and coach team members; drive technical excellence from discovery to live.
