Job summary

Capital One UK is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer for Amazon Connect in Nottingham. The role is hybrid, with three in-office days (Tue–Thu) and two remote days, contributing to a secure, scalable contact centre platform that supports voice and chat channels on AWS.

You will lead by example, set engineering standards, and mentor peers while owning end-to-end deployments and platform improvements. Training on Connect and AWS is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Production-grade software engineering experience and knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
• Lead by example, set engineering best practices, and mentor other engineers to broaden skillsets.
• Design and own software deployments from start to finish, thinking about back-end architecture and patterns.
• Emphasise test-driven development and resiliency in every release.
• Enjoy automation and proactive system optimisation; occasional on-call duties may apply.
• Hybrid work pattern with in-office days Tuesday–Thursday.

Responsibilities

• Set and maintain engineering standards across teams.
• Mentor engineers to broaden skillsets and improve code quality.
• Design and own deployments end-to-end, including backend architecture considerations.
• Collaborate across AWS services and the Amazon Connect ecosystem to deliver reliable solutions.
