Job summary

JAM is recruiting a Principal Software Engineer for the Barrow site to lead the design and development of safety-critical PLC/SCADA software for the Dreadnought PMS System. You will oversee lifecycle activities from design through unit testing and play a mentorship role within the software engineering team.

The role requires strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and experience with PLC/SCADA products in defence environments, with engagement across internal teams and external clients.

Qualifications

• Experience in software and equipment development for complex systems.
• Experience with PLC and SCADA products such as WinCC OA, Rockwell Controllogix, GE Mark VIe PLC.
• Knowledge of safety-critical software design for marine/defence environments.
• Interface testing and commissioning including RS422/RS232 and analog/digital interfaces is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design safety-critical PLC and SCADA software for the Dreadnought PMS System.
• Develop safety-critical software for PLC and SCADA control systems.
• Test software modules before handover to system testing.
• Configure software builds to support testing activities and maintain configuration management.
• Liaise with engineering teams and external clients.
