Job summary

BAE Systems at Barrow is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to join the software engineering team supporting the Dreadnought Class Submarine programme. You will work on the Platform Management System, delivering central control for reactor and propulsion subsystems.

The role requires hands-on design and development of PLC and SCADA software, configuration, testing, and integration, with technical leadership and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Experience in software and equipment development, particularly in safety-critical control systems.
Experience with PLC and SCADA software development and configuration.
Experience with WinCC OA SCADA.
Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix.
Experience with Trinity (Honeywell) iDefine modelling.

Responsibilities

Design and develop safety-critical PLC and SCADA software for the Dreadnought PMS.
Implement software for PLC and SCADA-based control systems.
Test safety-critical software modules before handover to the system testing team.
Configure software builds to support testing activities at all levels.
Manage software configuration and maintain proper configuration control.
Collaborate with engineering teams and external stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.
Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to engineering colleagues.
Take responsibility for the delivery of engineering work packages, ensuring quality and technical requirements are met.
