Job summary

Service Care Solutions Ltd is recruiting an Advanced Practitioner / Social Worker to join Barnsley’s Assessment and Duty Team based at Wombwell Police Station. This full-time hybrid locum role focuses on high-quality statutory assessments, safeguarding, and timely decision-making for children and families.

You will supervise, mentor students and NQSWs, and provide leadership within the team while working closely with police and partner agencies to secure positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker with registration in Social Work England.
• Significant statutory children’s social work experience.
• Experience in assessment, safeguarding and working with risk.
• Ability to lead plans, mentor students and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Undertake high-quality statutory assessments of children and families.
• Support timely decision-making around need and risk.
• Drive plans for vulnerable children and ensure best outcomes.
• Collaborate with families, police and partner agencies.
• Provide reflective supervision to social workers and colleagues.
• Mentor students, NQSWs and other professionals.
• Offer practice guidance within the team and maintain safeguarding standards.
• Contribute to learning and development within the service.
• Keep up-to-date with legislation, policies and procedures.
• Work within a performance framework to deliver timely assessments.
