Job summary

West Berkshire Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker for the Assessment & Family Help Service to lead child protection assessments and ensure safeguarding for children and families.

You will manage a caseload involving Child Protection and Child in Need, providing oversight and working within a supportive, collaborative team. A hybrid working model is offered alongside professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
• Current driving licence and access to a car.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.
• Experience managing risk within complex family workloads.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, guidance and policies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building.
• Ability to manage conflict effectively.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of Child Protection and Child in Need Assessments.
• Provide oversight of assessments for children involved.
• Support safeguarding and rights of children and young people.
• Collaborate with colleagues, families and external partners to improve outcomes.
