Travelers Companies, Inc. is seeking an SME Underwriter to own the full trading cycle—from submissions and quotes through to binds—while applying sharp risk analysis to consistently hit targets in the UK SME portfolio. The role emphasizes strong broker relationships and profitability within a hybrid Manchester setup.

You will underwrite, negotiate risks, and collaborate with sales and product teams to grow and protect a diversified book. UK market knowledge is essential for success.

Formación

• Knowledge of products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
• Analytical/Critical thinking with ability to underwrite and analyse information.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with brokers.
• Ability to work with diverse teams and leverage differences for business goals.
• Industry/Competitor analysis to inform underwriting decisions.
• Project management for routine regulatory changes and product enhancements.

Responsabilidades

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention for an assigned SME book.
• Underwrite and negotiate risks to maximise profitability and manage MTAs.
• Proactively manage portfolio to hit KPIs and target new business and retention.
• Collaborate with Manager/Team to identify risk characteristics and take corrective action.
• Identify opportunities to write additional lines of business based on product knowledge and risk appetite.
• Utilise technology platforms to quote and bind E-Trade risk efficiently.
• Provide input for Underwriting Reviews on policies or portfolios and track actions.
• Build relationships with internal partners to identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with brokers to market Travelers products and grow accounts.
• Develop pipeline and retention plans aligned with sales strategies.
• Mentor less experienced underwriters and support junior team members.
