Job summary

Love Finance Limited in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Underwriter to lead complex SME lending decisions. You will underwrite end-to-end, including asset-heavy projects, and monitor portfolio performance post-funding to sharpen lending decisions.

You'll work with the credit leadership team to shape policy and improve processes, using data to drive risk-aware commercial lending while maintaining a strong client focus.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' underwriting experience in SME or commercial lending.
• Experience lending to asset-heavy businesses such as construction.
• Hands-on portfolio monitoring experience including annual reviews and early warning indicators.
• Strong financial analysis skills with ability to challenge numbers and assumptions.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite SME loan applications end to end, including complex cases in asset-heavy sectors such as construction.
• Analyze financial statements, management accounts, Open Banking data, cash flow and forecasts to form evidence-based risk views.
• Build and maintain portfolio reporting tracking arrears, defaults and early warning indicators.
• Shape credit policy, scorecards and decisioning rules using portfolio insights.
