Job summary

Skilled Careers, on behalf of a leading main contractor, seeks a Senior Site Manager to lead a major mixed-use development in Guildford. You will drive delivery from construction through to handover, ensuring safety, programme and quality standards are met.

You will manage multi-trade activities, lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors and liaise with clients and consultants on a complex residential and commercial project.

Responsibilities

• Ensure works align with drawings, specs and quality requirements.
• Maintain health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Attend and chair subcontractor and progress meetings.
• Liaise with consultants, clients and supply-chain partners.
• Ensure inspection and QA documentation is completed.
• Support the project through construction to handover.

We are working with a leading main contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Site Manager to join the team delivering a major mixed-use development in Guildford.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven construction professional to take a senior role on a high-profile project, working alongside an experienced project team and overseeing the successful delivery of a complex development from construction through to completion.

The scheme incorporates a combination of residential and commercial elements, requiring strong coordination across multiple trades, packages and stakeholders.

The Role

As Senior Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and delivery of the project, ensuring works are completed safely, to programme and to the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinating site activities across multiple work packages.
• Leading and developing Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers and the wider site team.
• Working closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team to maintain programme and commercial objectives.
• Coordinating subcontractors and specialist contractors to ensure efficient delivery.
• Monitoring progress against programme and identifying potential delays or areas of risk.
• Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with the project drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Chairing and attending subcontractor and progress meetings as required.
• Liaising with consultants, clients, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
• Ensuring inspection, testing and quality documentation is completed correctly.
• Supporting the project team through the various stages of construction and into completion and handover.

About You

We are looking for an established Senior Site Manager with a strong background in main contracting and experience delivering large-scale, complex construction projects.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience working for a tier-one or established main contractor.
• Experience delivering mixed-use, residential, commercial or similarly complex developments.
• A strong understanding of construction programmes, sequencing and logistics.
• Proven experience managing subcontractors and leading site teams.
• Excellent health & safety and quality awareness.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to build effective relationships with clients, consultants and supply-chain partners.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach to project delivery.
• Relevant construction qualifications, ideally including SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid
