Job summary

Romans Recruitment Group Ltd is seeking a Senior Site Engineer for a full-time permanent role in Harlow. You will oversee dimensional control on site and ensure works meet the required technical standards, contributing to programme delivery, quality assurance, and health and safety compliance.

The role includes mentoring graduate and junior engineers, planning works, and reviewing designs for buildability to support right-first-time delivery across civil engineering projects.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.

Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 (Dependent on Experience)

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to oversee dimensional control on site and ensure all works are delivered to the required technical standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in programme delivery, quality assurance, health and safety compliance, resource management, and the mentoring of junior engineering staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee dimensional control and ensure works are delivered to the highest technical standards.
• Mentor and support graduate and junior engineers in their day-to-day site duties and professional development.
• Assist with the effective delivery of project programmes, quality control processes, and health and safety requirements.
• Plan works thoroughly and develop safe systems of work appropriate to each project environment.
• Implement and monitor site-specific safe working procedures.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
• Plan and sequence site activities to achieve project milestones and programme objectives.
• Manage labour, plant, and materials resources efficiently while promoting a positive and productive working environment.
• Review designs to assess buildability and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support senior management with project resource planning and budget control.
• Manage quality assurance processes to minimise defects and ensure right-first-time delivery.
• Provide technical support and guidance to both site-based and office-based teams.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all operations.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years post-chartership experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using robotic EDM equipment.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.

• Experience within groundworks, civil engineering, basements, or structural construction projects.
• Previous experience in a similar senior engineering role.
• Team leadership or people management experience.
• Knowledge of laser-guided concrete screed systems.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Interest in mentoring and developing graduate engineers.
