Job summary

Catering is seeking a Senior Civil Site Engineer for permanent work in Manchester, leading site engineering for large-scale water infrastructure projects. You will manage setting out, survey activities, and provide technical records, ensuring right-first-time delivery.

Responsibilities include leading engineering teams, coordinating with PMs and Designers, and ensuring compliance with drawings, specs and safety standards. Relevant accreditation and UK driving license are required.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Accreditation (e.g. ICE) or working towards.
• Experience leading engineering delivery on civil projects.
• Experience across earthworks, drainage, structures, highways, utilities or water infrastructure.
• Strong CDM, safety legislation and engineering control knowledge.
• SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely.
• CSCS
• Full UK driving licence.
• TWC or working towards.

Our client, a leader in the water sector, is currently seeking a Senior Civil Site Engineer to join their team. This permanent role is part of a dynamic Construction and Project delivery team handling large-scale water infrastructure projects

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the full site engineering function, including setting out, dimensional control, verification, and survey activities.
• Manage engineering teams to ensure accurate execution of works.
• Validate primary control and resolve discrepancies in design information and site conditions.
• Oversee installation activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, tolerances, and standards.
• Maintain and manage survey/setting-out equipment, including calibration and testing regimes.
• Produce technical sketches, calculations, and engineering records to support construction activities.
• Ensure drawing registers and technical documentation are controlled and up-to-date.
• Lead the production of accurate as-built surveys, red-line drawings, and handover documentation.
• Conduct quality inspections, close out NCRs, and promote a “right-first-time” approach.
• Support Technical Assurance reviews, ensuring design compliance and correct installation.
• Prepare, brief, and implement Safe Systems of Work, including RAMS and Permits to Work.
• Act as or support the Temporary Works Coordinator, ensuring compliance with procedures.
• Track progress through measurement, quantity reporting, and verification of installed works.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Designers, Supply Chain, Supervisors, and Ensure digitally captured as-built information supports handover and asset information requirements.
