Bimplus is recruiting a Site Engineer for a major highways project based in Didcot, Oxfordshire. You will support the Section Engineer and Site Management on a £35m section, thriving in a fast-paced site environment that values precision, quality and teamwork.

Key duties include setting out, reviewing drawings, planning activities, coordinating materials with procurement, and liaising with consultants and subcontractors to keep the programme on track.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site Engineer in highways/public realm delivering earthworks/structures.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, GPS and modern surveying tools.
• Strong setting out, surveying and coordination abilities.

Your new role

As a Site Engineer, you will play a pivotal role supporting the Section Engineer and Site Management team on a £35m section of the project. This is a hands‑on, site-based position suited to an engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and takes pride in precision, quality and teamwork.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Setting out and site surveying works with accuracy and consistency
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and quantities to identify and resolve issues early
• Planning site activities and coordinating materials with procurement teams
• Liaising with consultants, subcontractors and internal teams to maintain programme momentum
• Supervising site labour and ensuring works meet quality and safety standards
• Maintaining detailed site records including diaries, quality documentation and test results
• Supporting health, safety and environmental compliance across the site
• Assisting the Site Manager and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

This role offers excellent exposure to complex civil engineering works and the opportunity to influence delivery on a major highways and infrastructure scheme.

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer within the highways and/or public realm sectors, delivering earthworks and/or structures packages
• Experience using AutoCAD, GPS and modern surveying equipment
• Strong setting out and surveying skills
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities
• CSCS, First Aid at Work and a full UK driving licence.
