Job summary

Substation Engineering Company (SECo) is seeking a mid to senior civil engineer for substation project site design in Reading, UK. Responsibilities include grading, erosion control, permitting, and site layout, with QA reviews and coordination with surveyors and environmental teams.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, 5–10 years of experience, and a PE license; proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is essential. A full benefits package and mentoring opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in civil site design or land development engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Ability to independently execute projects while contributing to larger teams.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares RFPs for site civil work and permitting.
• Reviews proposals from site civil and permitting firms for adherence to scope and evaluate cost.
• Manages subcontractors for schedule and performance.
• Ensures client standards are applied to site designs.
• Performs QA reviews on subcontractor’s deliverables.
• Leads the design of site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management systems, erosion and sediment control plans, and utility coordination.
• Coordinates with surveyors, architects, geotechnical engineers, environmental consultants, contractors, and permitting agencies to support project execution.
• Provides technical oversight during permitting, bidding, and construction phases.
