Job summary

Samuel Frank, based near Runcorn, Cheshire, seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to own complete automation projects from concept through to commissioning and handover. The role is hybrid, with occasional Daresbury office presence and home-based PLC software work when possible.

Candidate should have strong Siemens PLC programming skills and experience in logistics, conveyors and high-speed sortation. The position includes a £60k salary, £5k car allowance and on-call payments, with UK-wide site

Qualifications

• Siemens PLC programming experience, including developing software from scratch.
• Experience in logistics, warehousing, conveyors or sortation.
• Ability to develop control philosophy and Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
• Experience integrating PLC with barcode readers, RFID, cameras or warehouse systems.
• Strong customer-facing and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Take projects from concept through commissioning and handover.
• Develop PLC software, primarily Siemens.
• Produce FDS and control philosophy documents.
• Program and modify HMI systems.
• Test, fault-find and commission at customer sites.
