Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Shift Engineer in Birmingham to lead a shift team operating the Energy Recovery Facility and associated plant. You will ensure safe, compliant operation, cover planned outages, and mentor staff to grow their skills.

The role requires electro-mechanical or power engineering qualifications and a commitment to health, safety and environmental standards. A rota-based position with day/night shifts is involved.

Qualifications

• Electro-mechanical or power engineering qualifications are essential.
• Experience as a leader with the ability to coach and develop staff in a high-performance operational setting.
• Experience in Energy from Waste, power station or similar electro-mechanical/power engineering environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a shift team to ensure efficient and safe operation of the ERF and related plant/equipment.
• Act as Control Person to ensure contractors and maintenance teams operate safely in line with safety rules and environmental permits.
• Serve as Senior Authorised Person during planned outages, representing site management during out-of-hours periods.
• Drive training, mentoring and development of shift staff for career progression.
• Maintain accurate statutory and statistical records and coordinate with maintenance teams for scheduling.
