Job summary

RecruitMe is looking for a Shift Plant Operator to join a modern energy-from-waste facility in Stoke-on-Trent. You will operate boilers and turbines, monitor DCS controls and support safe, reliable steam generation within a safety-critical power-generation environment.

Ideal candidates bring energy-from-waste or heavy-process industry experience and hold an engineering apprenticeship or equivalent technical training. This is a permanent role with development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience operating boilers and turbines in a safety-critical plant.
• Experience in energy-from-waste or heavy-process industries.
• Ability to monitor and control process variables and respond to alarms.
• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent technical training.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor boilers and turbine to support steam generation.
• Maintain safe operations and respond to alarms and faults.
• Control temperature, pressure and flow using DCS and instrumentation.
• Coordinate waste handling and material movement on site.
• Record shift readings and log book entries accurately.
• Assist planned and unplanned maintenance and repairs.
• Work safely at height and in confined spaces as required.
• Operate overhead crane and FLT for material handling.
• Support continued plant availability and performance improvements.
