Job summary

OCU Group in Suffolk is seeking a SHESQ Manager to own SHESQ performance on a major 132kV power infrastructure project from day one. You’ll lead on-site safety, compliance, audits, and incident investigations, coordinating with operational teams and subcontractors to deliver safe, compliant delivery.

The role requires HV/LV project experience, NEBOSH Certificate, IOSH membership (or working towards), and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

Senior SHEQ advisor-level experience in construction, infra, utilities, or power projects.
Proven HV/LV project experience essential.
Previous experience on cable installation, ducting, or electrical infrastructure projects.
Experience working on live construction / infrastructure sites.
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
IOSH membership or working towards.
Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
Ability to work independently in a standalone role.
Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

Lead all SHEQ activities across a major 132kV cable route and ducting project
Act as the primary SHEQ representative on site, supporting operational teams and subcontractors
Conduct site inspections, audits, and assurance activities to ensure compliance with company procedures, legislation, and client requirements
Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions and lessons learned are implemented
Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and SHEQ briefings to site teams
Support risk assessments, safe systems of work, and project SHEQ planning
Monitor SHEQ performance and drive continuous improvement
Produce reports and maintain accurate SHEQ records
