Job summary

365 Recruit is seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer for a busy construction project in the UK. You will carry out accurate setting out, use Total Stations and GPS/GNSS, and interpret drawings to ensure work aligns with the programme.

Requirements include Civil Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) and a CSCS card. You will establish control points, support site teams, and ensure QA and as-built documentation are maintained to high standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience setting out on construction or civil projects.
• Competent with Total Station and GPS/GNSS surveying equipment.
• Strong ability to read drawings and assess levels and tolerances.
• Experience with QA procedures and as-built documentation.
• CSCS card is required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out for foundations, drainage, roads, kerbs, utilities, structural elements and associated construction works.
• Establish and maintain site control points, datums and benchmarks.
• Use Total Stations, GPS/GNSS and other surveying equipment to complete setting-out activities.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction information.
• Check dimensions, levels, coordinates and tolerances throughout the works.
• Undertake as-built surveys and maintain accurate survey records.
• Provide technical support to site teams and subcontractors.
• Identify discrepancies between drawings and site conditions and raise technical queries where required.
• Liaise with Site Managers, Project Managers, designers and subcontractors regarding engineering requirements.
• Assist with quality assurance, inspections and completion documentation.
• Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Maintain accurate records of setting-out information and completed works.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with site health & safety requirements.
