Job summary

Hales Group is seeking a Senior Service Manager in Woodbridge to lead and develop operational teams delivering Waste, Recycling and Street Cleansing services. You will deputise for the Operations Manager, drive service improvements, manage resources and ensure performance targets are met in a large, diverse operational environment.

The role requires a WAMITAB qualification, significant leadership experience in waste or environmental services, and strong Health & Safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Support and deputise for the Operations Manager in the delivery of Waste, Recycling and Street Cleansing services.
• Lead, motivate and develop operational teams to ensure high levels of performance, safety and customer service.
• Manage staffing, vehicles and operational resources to maximise efficiency and service delivery.
• Drive service improvement and operational change projects, including recycling initiatives and collection service enhancements.
• Monitor KPIs, budgets and operational performance, implementing improvements where required.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Risk Assessments, COSHH and environmental regulations.
• Oversee recruitment, training, performance management and employee development.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, stakeholders and external partners.
• Support budget management, procurement activities and commercial opportunities.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and service excellence.

Salary IRO £50k+ Per Annum (DOE)

Full Time | 12 Month FTC

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced operational leader to support the management and continuous improvement within a large and diverse operational environment. You will provide leadership to Assistant Managers and frontline teams, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed performance targets. You will also play a key role in driving operational improvements, service transformation projects and customer-focused initiatives.

This position would suit a highly organised manager with strong operational, people management and change management experience gained within Waste Management, Environmental Services or a similar service-led environment.

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

• Significant management experience within Waste Management, Recycling, Environmental Services or a comparable operational environment.
• WAMITAB qualification is mandatory
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary operational teams and resources.
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety requirements, including COSHH and Risk Assessments.
• Knowledge of waste legislation and operational compliance requirements.
• Experience delivering service improvements and operational change.
• Commercial awareness with budget monitoring and financial management experience.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and solve problems effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.

Desirable:

• Experience leading major operational improvement or transformation projects.
• Knowledge of route optimisation and recycling service developments.
• Experience preparing specifications, tenders or operational reports.
• Project Management training or qualification.
