Job summary

Opencast is seeking a Service Designer to connect people, processes and technology to improve how services are delivered across UK clients.

You will identify and solve complex service problems, design end‑to‑end journeys and lead project work streams while mentoring colleagues. The role requires weekly on‑site client work and active SC clearance eligibility. Great colleagues and a values‑driven culture accompany a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Experience with the GDS / Gov Design Systems.
• Analysed and synthesised complex information into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Built trust with senior stakeholders and communicated complex ideas clearly.
• Designed artefacts and facilitated user research and co-design sessions.
• Delivered accessible end-to-end services across front- and back-end journeys.
• Led multi‑stream work and contributed to roadmaps in agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Identify and solve complex service problems for clients.
• Define and design end‑to‑end service journeys balancing user needs, business goals and tech constraints.
• Lead projects, guide work direction, and develop relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Support less experienced colleagues and share knowledge widely.
• Ensure work complies with quality, security and policy requirements.
