The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews is seeking an experienced waiter or shift leader to join our Food & Beverage team. This role suits someone with supervisory experience or strong waiting staff background eager to develop into leadership.

You will oversee your own section, support a 5-star guest experience for international visitors, and contribute to creating lasting memories. We offer a 40-hour week, a base salary of £28,343.75 plus TRONC per hour, and extensive staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years hospitality experience, preferably in dining.
• Basic wine knowledge with ability to recommend wine and dish pairing options. WSET Level 1 preferred.
• Experience as a Section Leader.
• Ability to hold your own section and lead on shift.
• Provide a warm, 5-star experience with attention to detail.
• Team player with strong communication and positive attitude.
• Enthusiastic approach to guests and the role, creating memorable visits.
• Engage with guests to assist and enhance their visit.

About The Role

An opportunity for an experienced waiter or shift leader to join our Food & Beverage team here at The Old Course Hotel has become available. This position would suit either someone with recent experience in a supervisory role, or strong waiting experience with the desire to develop into a supervisory position. The role will include preparing for service, maintaining high standards of service and presentation, being responsible for your own section, being the designated leader on shift, providing a 5-star experience and creating lasting memories for our guests who travel from around the globe to visit us.

Responsibilities

• You will have previous experience of at least 2 years within a hospitality role, preferably in dining but all hospitality experiences will be considered.
• Basic wine knowledge is required, with the ability to recommend wine and dish pairing options. WSET Level 1 is preferred, but not essential.
• You will have previous experience as a Section Leader.
• You will have the ability to hold your own section.
• You will deliver a warm and welcoming experience, playing your part in making their stay at The Old Course as exceptional as it can be.
• You will have a keen eye for detail and an organised approach with the desire to exceed guest expectations.
• We need an enthusiastic approach towards your role and to our guests, striving to provide the world-class experience they expect.
• You will be a team player with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
• You will have the ability to engage with guests, helping them however you can and make their visit to the Road Hole Restaurant memorable.

Salary

£28,343.75 base salary + TRONC £13.63 per hour
