Job summary

Polaris Education - Holdsworth School in Burnley is seeking a SENCO to join the Senior Leadership Team. The role involves shaping SEN policy, coordinating interventions, and ensuring effective support for pupils with SEN or disabilities.

Qualifications

• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status
• National Award for SEN Co-ordination or willingness to complete NPQ for SENCOs
• Experience with self-evaluation and development planning
• Experience teaching in Autism/SEMH settings
• Experience leading INSET / training
• Solid knowledge of SEND Code of Practice
• Committed to ongoing professional development

Responsibilities

• Determine strategic SEN policy and provision in the school
• Design and deliver additional interventions to reduce attainment gaps
• Assess and monitor pupil progress against EHCPs
• Coordinate, prepare and chair annual reviews
• Be Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
• Attend multi-agency meetings and lead Early Help
• Support looked-after children and prepare reports
• Liaise with Head Teacher, tutors, teachers and parents on individual learning plans
• Oversee SEN policy day-to-day and coordinate provisions
• Maintain accurate records
• Support colleagues in teaching programmes and behaviour management
• Oversee annual reviews and transitions with relevant professionals
• Ensure safeguarding and Local Offer awareness
• Coordinate with external agencies and services
• Communicate with parents regularly
