Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment - Chesterfield is seeking an experienced Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting, supporting children with severe and complex needs. The role centres on providing nurturing, consistent and highly individualised support throughout the school day, including 1:1 and small-group work and close collaboration with teachers and therapists.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Experience with children or young people with severe, profound or complex SEN.
• Experience in a specialist SEN school, care setting or similar environment.
• Nurturing, patient and caring approach.
• Calm and consistent in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Resilience to work with pupils requiring very high levels of support.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with severe SEN.
• Support pupils in learning, communication and development.
• Maintain a calm, nurturing presence throughout the school day.
• Help pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviours of concern.
• Support development of independence and confidence.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Follow individual support, behaviour and education plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and specialist staff.
• Build positive relationships and celebrate pupil progress.
