Job summary

Academics, an established Education Agency, are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants for temporary, ongoing supply work across mainstream primary and secondary schools in Rotherham.

The role involves supporting pupils with SEN in a mainstream classroom, delivering 1:1, small-group or whole-class assistance, and working closely with teachers to help pupils access learning and overcome barriers. DBS enhanced or willingness to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
• Experience in a mainstream school is desirable.
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
• Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1, small-group or classroom SEN support
• Help pupils access lessons and learning activities
• Adapt activities and resources where appropriate
• Encourage independence and positive behaviour
• Support communication and social development
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Monitor and communicate pupil progress
• Work closely with teachers and SEN staff
