Job summary

Academics in Rotherham are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs within mainstream schools. You will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to help learners overcome barriers and thrive in a busy classroom.

Ideally you have 1:1, small-group or whole-class SEN support experience, a patient, adaptable approach, and an enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one. ASAP start, temporary ongoing supply roles available across local schools.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
• Experience within a mainstream school is desirable.
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
• Confident supporting a range of additional needs.
• Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1, small-group or classroom SEN support
• Help pupils access lessons and learning activities
• Adapt activities and resources where appropriate
• Encourage independence and positive behaviour
• Support communication and social development
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Monitor and communicate pupil progress
• Work closely with teachers and SEN staff
