Job summary

Academics in Retford is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in mainstream schools across Retford. You will work 1:1, in small groups or with the class, helping pupils access learning.

The role requires understanding of SEN, patience, good communication and teamwork. Enhanced DBS is preferred; flexible start dates and ongoing support from education consultants are offered.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
• Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, TA, LSA or similar.
• Ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEN within mainstream classrooms.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and engage with learning.
• Support pupils' communication, confidence and independence.
• Encourage positive behaviour using appropriate strategies.
• Work closely with teachers and other school staff.
• Adapt support to meet individual pupil needs.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies.
